This session brought people together through art, poetry, storytelling and conversation, with no previous writing or art experience needed. Attendees' advice and experiences helped create a book to support others living with a visual impairment.

Residents of Link Road collected their thoughts on what they did to look after their mental health and turned them into a poem. Visitors were able to walk freely along the road at any time during Healing Arts Birmingham week and read the poem line-by-line in residents' front windows.

Attendees learned more about The Healing Arts Birmingham Neighbourhood programme, which provided grants to support a diverse range of community-led projects taking place across the city during Healing Arts Birmingham.

The morning will begin with a gallery tour by artist Clare Hewitt of her exhibition ‘Everything in the forest is the forest’. Responding to a government report suggesting that loneliness and isolation were increasing in rural areas of the UK, acclaimed photographer Clare’s exhibition celebrates trees and their remarkable ability to nurture and communicate.

Connect More Stitching Workshop

Spend ten minutes or so in a shared act of making with Tina Francis. Using her stitching tool, Connect More, add to the artwork with your own stitches as we share our thoughts on health, craft or what we are going to cook for tea. After adding to the artwork you will leave with a small stitch kit to complete when you next have ten minutes free.
