Ampe Alive is a participatory creative health activity that draws on a traditional African recreational practice, to deliver a general wellbeing experience through movement, rhythm, and cultural expression.
Ampe Alive integrates multiple creative forms:
- Movement and physical play (core activity)
- Rhythm and music (clapping patterns, optional Afrobeat accompaniment)
- Storytelling (cultural context and origins of Ampe)
- Interactive performance (participants co-create the experience)
Half-Day Activity Structure
- Drop-in and facilitated sessions throughout (30–45 mins each)
- Open access for individuals, families, and community groups
- Facilitated participation with progression from beginner to confident play
